“Beautiful view, delicious food, excellent value, and a personable staff. The food is consistently good and you won’t find a better deal on the beach. Even our 3 year old granddaughter asks to go to The Tale Whale for dinner.”

“This restaurant is family owned and has been around for about 25 years. The atmosphere, being a cozy, yet classy place right on the water with a gazebo over the sound with live music in season, makes it the place we always want to go when we want a special dinner. The food is always excellent, and the menu is full of choices for anyone. The cost of the meals is very reasonable.”

“We went early for the 20% off dinner and sat at a wonderful booth overlooking the water! Service was excellent and the fresh fish super! Loved it that a salad is included! We will be back!”

“We own a second home plus a rental home in Nags Head. This is the restaurant we take our visiting families and friends to when we are looking for an upper scale restaurant that always delivers quality seafood, great service and an unbeatable atmosphere. The owners greet you with a smile and are truly glad you’ve chosen them. Tale of the Whale is tops on our list because they continually win us over with quality food and service. We’ve never gone wrong with this choice.”

“This is our favorite place for dinner in Nags Head. We go here every year. The food is fresh and reasonably priced. And the view from every table we’ve ever sat at is great!”

“Having had several meals over the last year of visits, we have found it to be high quality with consistent service. If you want local seafood and a pretty view this is the place.”

“We chose this restaurant as our family dinner location while staying in the Outer Banks. The service was excellent and the food was very good. I had the crab stuffed lobster, my son had the coconut shrimp, my husband loved the hot crab dip as an appetizer. The martinis were yummy! My food was fresh and plentiful. The view is beautiful, right on the water. I would return to Tale of the Whale.”

“This restaurant has excellent seafood, steak and chicken entrees that will leave you begging for more! It is set right on the waterfront making for amazing dinner views. The deserts are fantastic as well and you will surely be full by the time you go home! You must devote one night to this restaurant when visiting the Outer Banks!”

“This is my favorite restaurant in obx. We always save it for the last night because it is the best. Awesome in every way.”

“My favorite place to eat when we go to the Outer Banks!”

“Had dinner here and it was great. Sat outside and watched the sunset and listened to the music while we waited for out table. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and quiet. The wait staff is efficient, the portions are generous and the food is delicious! My husband had shrimp and I had clams, both were excellent. As a bonus the clams come with hush puppies that are the best I’ve ever had. Dinner is served with a small round loaf of fresh baked loaf of bread. You have to be careful not to fill up on the bread, it so good. Even though there are some large groups the restaurant manages to have an intimate feel.”

“All in all it’s a great place. I would go just for the view, but the food makes it a definite must go.”

“Tale of the Whale is probably our favorite Outer Banks restaurant. While we’ve never been seated immediately, the wait has been an acceptable length of time, especially since we spend the time on the wonderful deck that leads to the gazebo enjoying the beautiful sound views. There is also a bar and live music in the gazebo. Service has always been good, and the food is outstanding. My favorite is the salmon topped with crabmeat and a lobster sauce…wonderful…and usually enough to take some home for the next day’s lunch.”
